How do I actually get good at Lua scripting? ▼
Stop watching tutorials and start breaking things. Pick any game mechanic you like — a health bar, a door that opens, a leaderboard — and build it from scratch with zero help. When it breaks, figure out why. That cycle of build-break-fix is the only way to actually learn. Tutorials give you the illusion of understanding. Breaking your own code gives you the real thing.
How did pls donate get so many players at first? ▼
Honestly? The concept spread itself. When something is genuinely novel and the core interaction is surprising, people tell other people. The first players told their friends because what happened was unexpected. No paid promotion. No algorithm hack. Just a mechanic nobody had seen before. The lesson: if you have to explain why your game is interesting, it might not be interesting enough yet.
Should I focus on one game or build multiple? ▼
Build multiple until one gets traction. Shipping is a skill. Most developers treat their first game like it is their only game and refuse to ship it until it is perfect. Ship the imperfect thing. Learn from real players. Build another. The developer who ships 10 games learns 10x faster than the one who spends 2 years on their first one. Once something starts working, then go all in on it. Not before.
What makes a Roblox game go viral? ▼
It has to make players feel something they want to share. Not just fun — surprising, impressive, funny, emotional, or socially interesting. Ask yourself: would someone screenshot this and send it to a friend? Would they explain it in a voice chat? If the answer is no, the game is probably missing the thing that makes it spread. The mechanic itself has to be inherently shareable.
Is the mentorship program really real? ▼
Yes. Completely. One person. Full funding. Real day together. The NDA is real. The investment is real. I built pls donate alone and I know what it feels like to have a great idea with no resources and no one to ask. This program is what I wish had existed for me. Apply if you are serious. What if I don't have any games yet? ▼
Apply anyway but be honest about it. I value self-awareness over fake credentials. If you have a genuine vision and you can articulate it clearly and you are clearly driven — that matters more than a portfolio. But if you have zero games and zero technical foundation, you need to build something before applying. Even a bad game proves you can ship. Nothing proves nothing.
